HISTORY

The Troy Skating Club was established in 1952, operates out of Hobart Arena, and is a member club of US Figure Skating. During its 65 year history Troy Skating Club has hosted countless ice shows that boasted some of the most famous names in skating, such as, Scott Hamilton, Peggy Fleming, Carol Heiss-Jenkins and many more. Troy Skating Club is also the home of several notable figure skating contributors, former President of US Figure Skating, Frederick C. Lefevre, former US Figure Skating Executive Director John Lefevre, World and International judge Virginia Lefevre, and former US Figure Skating President James Disbrow. Late board member Kathy Slack was not only a National Level judge but also travelled to the 2014 Sochi Olympics with the US Figure Skating Team as a US Team Leader. Troy Skating Club has hosted its annual Summer Competition every year in July since 1974 and will be celebrating 49 years of competition in Troy in July 2023.

PURPOSE


The purpose of the Troy Skating Club is to encourage the instruction, practice, tests and advancement of the members in all forms of skating and to encourage and cultivate a spirit of fraternal feeling among ice skaters, to sponsor, produce or cooperate in the production of amateur ice shows and host competitions.

WHAT WE DO

 

The Troy Skating Club provides the city of Troy and surrounding communities with quality ice skating instruction to people of all ages and skill levels. TSC provides a Learn to Skate USA program for ice skating beginners, and beginning hockey players. TSC also provides opportunities for private skating instruction, a competitive skating program and hosts exhibitions and competitions.
